Mirror

Black water in the windless autumn noon
That lithographs in sharper, duller form
The world that arches out above, the hemisphere
Defined between the sedges & the cloud
A strip of leafblown malachite to trap
The image of a lightdrained sky
At dead of damp and chilly noon.

Speaks polished darkness to the matted light,
Midnight precision to the looseframed day,
I am your parent and your clearer self.
